Why Temperament
Today’s world has a characteristic which accelerates people’s alienation to their own selves. Constant exposure to stimuli bombardment interferes with the ordinary thinking and feeling procedures. Even the actual state of ‘being alone’ has evolved. Aloneness, in fact, indicates being alone with one’s own inner world. However, today it is perceived as being occupied with internet, music, technology, books, foods, games, etc. on an individual basis. In order to achieve a higher level of entity and to know oneself, a genuine journey to insight is required. In this journey, one should profoundly comprehend his or her own behavior, affect and cognition processes. This kind of comprehension creates a need for a unique path, an instrument. No means can serve to reach a higher level of understanding, including science which is an instrument for studying the external world. Even contemporary psychology, which defines human beings only as a bio-psycho-social entity, does not provide enough data for people to recognize themselves as a whole with their positive and negative aspects. This is because the contemporary psychology disintegrates human beings into pieces such as mind and body, and does not evaluate them within their somato-psycho spiritual integrity.
The concept of temperament considers the afore mentioned integrity and for the individual to recognize himself or herself, it takes them to a starting point, which can be called as ‘the first button of the entity’. The natural or synthetic displays of personality is insufficient for understanding the origins of the individual. Yet thousands of identification attempts which arise from the interaction of social and physical environment cause the self of the child to be covered with a crust. Trying to understand a person based on personality can lead to distancing from the center; just as a bullet that deviates 25 cm from the target due to a one-millimeter deviation at aiming.
The basic platform for discovering human is the temperament. The embracing nature of temperament provides an opportunity for the individual to be recognized in terms of personal, social, professional and many other aspects. By this means, individuals can have the opportunity to follow a path that is in line with their own nature. It is possible to benefit from temperament model in the fields of child rearing, education, business world, science, art and many others.
Temperament can be considered as the key concept of education in the fields listed above because learning, teaching, guidance, assessment-evaluation, curriculum and all other sub-areas are all linked to the starting point of the temperament. We have recently focused on putting the temperamental approach in the center of the fields of education, counseling and human resources. Because the appropriate organization of these three areas is essential like an hygienic atmosphere.
As a team, we have presented how the concept of temperament can be used by the counselors and teachers in psychological counseling-guidance, in the book named ‘‘Rehber Benim’’ (I am the Guide). In addition to the book, a school guidance software named ‘‘Mizaç Temelli Dijital Rehberlik Sistemi’’ (Temperament Based Digital Guidance System) (DTMM-DRS) has also been implemented. Thus, we have established the digital infrastructure of Temperament Based Education Applications. Such infrastructure is extremely important to cover all the dimensions from philosophy to theory and theory to practice. Because a theory supported by practices and related to philosophy is rare to be seen in Turkey.
And now we are publishing the book named ‘‘Ebeveyn Benim’’ (I am the Parent) for parents. With this book, we invite parents to get to know themselves and know their children with their individual differences, and to ‘‘do what is necessary’’. Children are substantially shaped by the identifications, connotations and templates created in their minds before they begin their education. To carry out this process with an understanding that is based on respect to human nature, we give importance to the efforts have been made for parents. The healthy development of the natural personality of the child depends on an interaction ecosystem that is compatible with his or her temperament. This book has a stimulus effect on this matter.
With The Temperament Based Efficiency Model, we are excited to create an ‘‘original, unique, universal and scientific’’ model of human resources using the approach of ‘‘recognize- organize with education- integrate with counseling’’.
With the models we have developed and the practices we have made in the fields of human resources management, education and councelling, our studies which are well-suited to human nature, revealing the functional and individual differences in a realistic way will patiently grow horizontally and vertically. We need the support of all parties concerned in this regard. Our association always appreciates your contributions. The journey is for all of us.
